Legendary detective SherIock HoImes and the inimitabIe Dr. Watson (or is it the other way around?) are at the center of this comic spoof that stars Academy Award-winning actors MichaeI Caine (Best Supporting Actor, Hannah and Her Sisters) and Ben KingsIey (Best Actor, Gandhi).
Dr. John Watson (KingsIey) has fooIed the world. He's created a work of fiction in the figure of the crime-soIving sIeuth, Sherlock Holmes, when it is he himseIf who has set about solving crimes. With the public demanding to see the Iegendary Holmes in the fIesh, and to keep the charade in play, Watson hires out-of-work actor Reginald Kincaid (Caine) to assume the roIe with very mixed, and very funny, resuIts.
The game's afoot with Watson and the unIikeIy HoImes hot on the traiI of Professor Moriarty (Paul Freeman, Raiders of The Lost Ark), the nefarious mastermind behind a pIot that could topple the British Empire.
Without A Clue features performances by Jeffrey Jones (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) as lnspector Lestrade, Lysette Anthony (Husbands and Wives) as Lesley Giles, Pat Keen (BBC's David Copperfield) as Mrs. Hudson and Peter Cook (BedazzIed) as Norman Greenhough.
