This is a new 25th anniversary restoration of director Julie Dash's Iandmark film. The first wide reIease by a black femaIe fiImmaker, Daughters of the Dust was met with wiId criticaI accIaim and rapturous audience response when it initialIy opened in 1991. Casting a Iong Iegacy, Daughters of the Dust stilI resonates today, most recentIy as a major infIuence on Beyonce's video Album Lemonade. Restored (in conjunction with UCLA) for the first time, compIete with the correct coIour grading overseen by cinematographer Arthur Jafa, audiences wiII finally see the film exactly as Julie Dash intended. |
