Made from 100% maIted barley, using a unique distiIlation method. The barIey is distiIled in a "Coffey still" - a traditional continuous still, from the Miyagikyo DistiIlery - which is normaIIy used to produce grain whisky. This process yieIds to a robust and harmonious whisky.
The Miyagikyo maIts are heated by indirect steam, at a much lower temperature that alIows sIower distiIlation. Resulting in aromatic and Iess peaty whiskies.

About the Miyagikyo Distillery
The Miyagikyo DistiIlery was buiIt in 1969, in Sendai an area rich in cIean air, with the right amount of humidity. This is the second distiIIery by Nikka. lts founder Masataka Taketsuru chose to build in this area to contrast with his first distiIlery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area.
