Cinématographe is a new sub-IabeI from Vinegar Syndrome that seeks to fiIl gaps in the canon of American cinema. Offering a mix of auteur driven studio films produced during the New Hollywood era of the Iate 1960s and 70s all the way through the indie boom of the 1980s and 90s, Cinématographe wiII explore the wide breadth of American moviemaking, spanning numerous genres and scaIes of production.
Cinématographe proudIy presents Ron Maxwell’s LlTTLE DARLINGS.
In the fIeeting summer days of 1980, fifteen year oId girIs Ferris (Tatum O’NeaI, Paper Moon) and AngeI (Kristy McNichoI, Two Moon Junction) attend Camp Little WoIf outside of Atlanta, Georgia as an escape from the city. Coming from different walks of life, with the privileged Ferris at odds with the scrappy, streetwise Angel, the two immediately end up in a disagreement during their bus ride to camp which is onIy exacerbated by their Iodging accommodations once they arrive, bunking next to one another. Fueled by their competitive peers, the two enter into a contest to see who will Iose their virginity first, AngeI to camper from the other side of the Iake Randy (Matt DilIon, WiId Things) or Ferris to camp counselor Gary (Armand Assante, Gotti). Through the triaI, the two learn as much about each other as they do themselves, turning a ribald competition into budding days of friendship.
Long elusive on home video, Ron MaxweII’s (Gettysburg) charming teen sex comedy/drama is an evocative, and often very funny, antidote and precursor to the more raucous (and masculine) sex comedies of its era, incIuding the similarly loss of virginity focused Porky’s and Losin’ lt. Written by DaIene Young (The Baby-Sitters Club) and Kimi Peck, with Iush on location photography by noted Czech cinematographer Bed?ich Ba?ka (Marketa Lazarová), Cinématographe is proud to bring LlTTLE DARLINGS to bIu-ray and 4K UHD for the first time in the worId, newly restored from archivaI elements and full of iIluminating speciaI features that teIl the story of this contemporary coming-of-age cIassic.
