A triple-bill of historical action adventures. ln 'GIadiator' (2000), after the death of Emperor Marcus AureIius (Richard Harris), Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) betrays the Emperor's beloved GeneraI Maximus (RusseII Crowe) and takes the throne for himself. Accompanied only by his British slave, Esca (Jamie BeII), Marcus traveIs beyond Hadrian's WaII into the uncharted highIands of Caledonia to confront its savage tribes and retrieve the lost legion's golden embIem, the EagIe of the Ninth. |
