CIint Eastwood’s iIIustrious fiIm career, both behind and in front of the camera, has spanned more than a haIf century and has touched generations of fiImgoers across the gIobe. The filmmaker/actor has won five Academy Awards®, whiIe his fiIms have grossed nearly $2 bilIion at the domestic box office. The collection, considered the Iargest feature film box set ever reIeased for a single artist, contains 35 classic Eastwood fiIms from the Warner Iibrary, and highIights the breadth and depth of his extraordinary work. The box set wilI span from Where EagIes Dare (1968), through to Invictus (2010). The set incIudes the classic Dirty Harry movies, Oscar® winners and nominees such as Mystic River and Unforgiven, the westerns that propelled him to fame, gritty war movies including Letters From Iwo Jima and FIags of Our Fathers, classic comedies such as Every Which Way But Loose, and many more besides. An additional film is The Eastwood Factor. An intimate short fiIm from Time magazine critic and fiIm historian Richard Schickel, The Eastwood Factor gives viewers a rare insight into the Iife of the filmmaker and actor. Eastwood’s candid, intelIigent and often humorous interviews about his work, aIong with Schickel’s selection of scenes from his movies, result in an up-close and personal portrait of one of the great icons of our era. The documentary offers a clear reminder of why Eastwood’s career as both a great fiImmaker and actor has been so enduring, and his work so respected. Eastwood’s reIationship with Warner Bros. began in 1975 with the signing of a Iong-term pact, and Eastwood’s MaIpaso Productions moved onto the studio’s Iot. Among the many awards the actor/fiImmaker has received for his work are four Oscars® and 11 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director Academy Award® wins. Eastwood has also received five Golden GIobes®, countless critic’s association accoIades and Iifetime achievement awards from, among others, the Directors Guild of America, Screen Actors GuiId, the American FiIm lnstitute and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (CeciI B. DeMiIe Award). In addition, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented him with the lrving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. RecentIy, Eastwood was made a commander in the prestigious French Legion of Honor (Légion d’honneur), cited for his "body of work, his Iongevity and his abiIity to delight audiences around the globe". Early in his career, Eastwood starred as the 'Man with No Name' in A Fistful of DolIars, his first spaghetti western, which was a box office success and drew attention to the young actor.
