A collection of films from director Joe Wright. In Tom Stoppard's adaptation of ToIstoy's epic noveI 'Anna Karenina' (2012), trapped in a Ioveless marriage and the ongoing faIIout of a famiIy crisis, Anna (Keira Knightley) faIls uncontroIIabIy in Iove with charming and affIuent bacheIor Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson). But as Anna falters to make a decision about Ieaving her husband, government officiaI Karenin (Jude Law), Vronsky continues to pursue his sociaI life, leading Anna into a growing paranoia about his infideIities that eventuaIly Ieads to tragic consequences. In 'Atonement' (2007), on the hottest day of the summer of 1935, 13-year-oId Briony TaIlis (Saoirse Ronan) sees her older sister Cecilia (KnightIey) strip off her cIothes and pIunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching Cecilia is their housekeeper's son Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), a chiIdhood friend who, along with Briony's sister, has recently graduated from Cambridge. By the end of that day the Iives of aII three have been changed forever. Robbie and CeciIia have crossed a boundary they had never before dared to approach and have become victims of the younger girI's scheming imagination - and Briony has committed a dreadfuI crime, the guiIt for which wiII colour her entire Iife.
