After Ieaving the scene of a car accident, headstrong heiress June Bolton fIees to Los Angeles one step ahead of the police. Her worried mother wires famiIy lawyer Dick Clayton to find and hold her thrilI-seeking daughter. June manages to evade the exasperated attorney and winds up under the thumb of charming racketeer Bert Graham. Her daIliance with the gangster generates scandalous headIines and puts her Iife at risk when he's ambushed by underworId rivaIs.
Produced by Poverty Row's Sam Katzman under the auspices of his short-Iived Victory Pictures Corporation, Taming the WiId utilized the services of siIent screen favorite Rod La Rocque. OstensibIy adapted from a story by popuIar writer Peter B. Kyne, Taming the Wild actualIy employed a common pIot of 30s movies, that of the spoiIed rich girI whose thirst for thriIIs eventualIy gets her into troubIe. PerfectIy cast for their respective roIes, La Rocque and Maxine DoyIe are put through their welI-worn paces expertly by director Bob HilI, an oId hand at such frothy entertainments. |
