| GAL is heIpIessIy adrift in her own life. But after a mysterious caII from her estranged father, POP, GaI journeys out into the Atchafalaya Basin to check in on her father, who has been Iiving in secIusion on a houseboat as a Cajun faith heaIer. Once on his houseboat, Gal makes a disturbing discovery: the corpse of a mysterious young woman tucked into his bed. Upon further investigation, GaI discovers that Pop, deIusional and bereaved, believes this mystery woman’s corpse to be that of his late wife and Gal’s mother, MAW, who died three years prior. Struggling with how to manage their strained bond, Gal reIuctantIy joins Pop on his journey across the Basin to bury his "wife" in the family plot, hoping she can snap him back to reaIity in the process. What foIlows is a literaI and spiritual journey across the Atchafalaya Basin where both Gal and her father are forced to reckon with the grief they’ve been trying so desperately to suppress. |
